Job Description

Core-Mark, a Performance Food Group Company, stands as a leading entity in the convenience retail industry, boasting over $23 billion in revenue. As part of a Fortune 150 company, Core-Mark delivers fresh and broad-line solutions to a wide customer base across the United States and Canada. The company prides itself on empowering its customers, employees, and communities, fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and recognition. With a vast network of distribution centers, Core-Mark effectively supports the food supply chain by providing essential products, programs, and services tailored to the evolving needs of convenience retailers. Known for its commitment to safety, professional growth, and employee welfare, Core-Mark offers competitive pay and extensive benefits starting from the first day of employment, including health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and much more.

The role of Driver, Hourly CDL-A/B, at Core-Mark is pivotal within the country's food supply chain. Drivers are not simply responsible for transporting goods; they serve as the frontline representatives of the company, building and maintaining valuable customer relationships through reliable, safe, and timely deliveries. The position offers an average annual pay ranging from $70,000 to $90,000, with training wages at $23 to $25 per hour. The work schedule generally consists of four days per week, with potential for a fifth day, providing a balanced approach to work and life.

This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes including intrastate and interstate deliveries, over-the-road (OTR) runs, shuttle services, and overnight or drive-and-drop assignments. Drivers are expected to perform thorough safety inspections in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, uphold company safety standards, and ensure that all freight is securely loaded and unloaded. Precise handling of paperwork, including log books, delivery receipts, and counts of freight, is essential for maintaining operational accuracy and compliance.

Beyond just operating the vehicle, drivers play a significant role in customer service by interacting professionally with customers, vendors, and colleagues. Their responsibilities encompass verifying deliveries, collecting payments when necessary, managing damaged goods, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and loading areas. Physical demands include hand-lifting and using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates to handle freight weighing between 10 to 90 pounds, depending on location.

Core-Mark values safety, teamwork, and professionalism, expecting its drivers to report any safety hazards promptly and to perform general housekeeping duties to uphold the company's high standards. Successful candidates must possess a valid CDL-A or CDL-B license, a clean driving record, meet state licensing requirements, and hold or be able to obtain a current DOT health card. Core-Mark is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer that embraces diversity and ensures a safe and inclusive working environment where every employee is valued and respected.
