The position of Delivery Driver at Core-Mark is a vital role within the country’s food supply chain, directly impacting the timely and safe distribution of food products to customers. Delivery drivers are the face of the company, tasked with maintaining and building lasting customer relationships while ensuring that products arrive at their destinations in excellent condition and on schedule. This role requires operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, over-the-road trips, shuttle, and overnight drives, depending on business needs. The driver must adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies, performing thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to guarantee safety and compliance. Daily responsibilities include loading and unloading product, verifying shipments against invoices, handling customer transactions, and completing all required delivery documentation accurately and legibly. Drivers are integral team members within both their immediate department and the broader organization, expected to perform any assigned duties to best serve company interests. The shift typically starts early in the morning with a Monday to Friday schedule and may occasionally require overnight work. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 6 months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be 21 years or older
- Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- Successful completion of post offer drug testing
- Clear criminal background check
- Passing road test
- Possession or eligibility for DOT health card
- Physical ability to hand-lift and use equipment to move freight weighing between 10-90 pounds
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 6+ months commercial driving experience
- Valid CDL-A
- Must be 21+ years of age
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attains or has valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately report all safety hazards
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Check and complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect money where required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log per DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keep trailers clear and clean as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
