Founded in 1928, Suburban Propane has grown into a nationwide distributor renowned for its dedication to exceptional customer service and reliable energy solutions. Serving approximately one million residential, commercial, governmental, industrial, and agricultural customers through about 700 locations spread across 42 states, the company stands as a leader in propane, renewable propane, renewable natural gas (RNG), fuel oil, and related products and services. Furthermore, Suburban Propane actively markets natural gas and electricity and invests in low carbon fuel alternatives, aligning with its mission to advance a sustainable and clean energy future.

The company’s mission centers around three core pillars: the Suburban Commitment, which emphasizes nearly a century of dependability and the highest service standards; SuburbanCares, which reflects the company’s continuous engagement in giving back to local communities nationwide; and Go Green with Suburban Propane, which promotes propane’s clean burning and versatile properties as a key component in the transition to greener energy solutions. As Suburban Propane expands its national footprint, it remains committed to employee wellbeing, environmental stewardship, and innovative energy practices.

The Delivery Driver Apprentice Program at Suburban Propane offers a unique opportunity for individuals seeking a career with purpose, skill development, and teamwork. This full-time, company-paid training program unlocks a rewarding career path by providing apprentices with comprehensive instruction and hands-on experience. The program includes a structured curriculum, combining instructor-led training and online modules focusing on safety, security, and hazardous materials (hazmat) handling. Apprentices will learn the critical aspects of propane and/or heating oil delivery, gaining the knowledge necessary for a successful transition into a local Delivery Driver role.

Upon completion of this immersive training, participants earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements. Additionally, they obtain a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate, authorizing interstate commerce operation. The program not only equips apprentices with technical skills but also emphasizes customer service excellence, physical preparedness, and adherence to federal compliance standards, including English language proficiency for communication and safety.

Suburban Propane values the physical, mental, and financial wellbeing of its employees. To support this, the company offers competitive pay with incentive potential alongside an outstanding benefits package. This includes medical, dental, and vision coverage available after just 30 days of employment, paid time off that grows with tenure, and a 401(k) plan with company match and immediate vesting. Moreover, employees benefit from disability and life insurance, a generous tuition assistance program, propane discounts, employee recognition programs, and ongoing training and career development opportunities.

At Suburban Propane, diversity and inclusion are integral to its workplace culture. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to fair hiring practices, considering applicants regardless of age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, color, religion, national origin, disability status, veteran status, and other protected categories. This commitment extends to applicants with criminal histories in compliance with relevant laws and ordinances, fostering an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
