Job Description

Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) is a subsidiary of Dot Foods, a leader in the food industry supply chain. Established in 1991, DTI specializes in transporting a wide range of food products, efficiently connecting Dot Foods suppliers with customers and distribution centers across the country. With a modern fleet of over 1,500 trucks and a dedicated team of trained mechanics, Dot Transportation places a strong emphasis on safety, performance, and driver satisfaction. The company's commitment to its drivers is evident through its family-owned and operated culture, which fosters an inclusive environment where every team member is valued and respected. This approach has contributed to the company’s impressive record of zero layoffs in its history and a continuous effort to enhance its benefits and earning opportunities for drivers.

Located in Kansas City, KS, Dot Transportation, Inc. is currently hiring Class A CDL drivers for a variety of roles, including Customer Delivery Specialist, No-Touch Freight specialists, and Team Drivers on full-time or part-time schedules. Drivers can select from various schedule options including Traditional (typically dispatched 5.5 days per trip), 6X3 (six days on, three days off), 4X4 (four days on, four days off), or 4X3 flip (alternating four days on, three days off with three days on, four days off), allowing flexibility that supports work-life balance. Starting pay can reach up to $95,000 annually depending on experience and job type, supplemented by bonuses for exceptional performance.

The driver role at DTI goes beyond just transportation. Drivers are expected to operate equipment safely and efficiently, complying with all Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and other regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include loading and unloading dry and temperature-controlled goods for all jobs except no-touch freight, managing fuel efficiency, monitoring idle time, and maintaining speed to meet company goals. Drivers must also thoroughly understand load paperwork and product packaging details to ensure accurate and safe delivery. Physical activity is part of the job, with requirements to lift weights averaging 14 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds, except for no-touch freight drivers.

DTI prioritizes safety and provides drivers with top-of-the-line trucks and comprehensive training to ensure their wellbeing on the road all year round, despite weather or scheduling challenges involving weekdays, weekends, days, and nights. The company supports drivers with medical, dental, 401(k), and profit-sharing plans, creating ample opportunities for career advancement within a stable and growth-oriented organization.

DTI looks for candidates who possess a Class A CDL with a good motor vehicle record or the ability to obtain one, with tuition assistance available for driving school. Haz-Mat and tanker endorsements can be obtained during training. Other essentials include a medical examiner certificate, passing a physical ability test, proficiency in English, and a safety-first mindset. Preferred qualifications include six months of over-the-road experience or graduation from an approved truck driving school and a high school diploma or GED.

Joining Dot Transportation means becoming part of a team that values safety, respects individuals, and offers a competitive compensation package with extensive benefits.
