Job Description

Dot Transportation, Inc. (DTI) is a premier trucking company based in Kearny, New Jersey, and a subsidiary of Dot Foods, a pioneer in the food industry supply chain. Established in 1991, DTI has grown to operate a fleet of over 1,500 trucks, each maintained by an in-house team of skilled mechanics. This family-owned and operated business has cultivated a strong culture of inclusivity, respect, and support, making it a standout employer in the transportation sector. The company is known for its consistent stability, having never experienced layoffs in its history, reflecting its commitment to its workforce and operational excellence. DTI prioritizes work-life balance, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits, making it an attractive career choice for professional Class A CDL drivers who appreciate the open road and seek meaningful work away from traditional office environments.

The available role for a Customer Delivery Specialist is a full-time position offering a traditional Monday through Friday schedule with local routes into the boroughs of New York using day cabs and 48' trailers. The starting pay can go up to $86,000 annually, depending on experience and specific job assignments, with various pay options designed to reward performance and tenure. Drivers at DTI are responsible for picking up products from Dot Foods suppliers and efficiently delivering them to customers and distribution centers while ensuring safety and compliance at all times.

The role demands working in diverse weather conditions and at various times, including weekdays, days, and nights. Drivers must be comfortable with the physical aspects of the job, such as lifting products that can weigh up to 60 pounds and spending long hours sitting, walking, or standing during their shifts. Training and equipment are prioritized for safety, with drivers operating some of the best trucks in the industry and receiving top-tier ongoing education to maintain high standards.

Operational excellence is emphasized as drivers are held to goals including fuel efficiency, reducing idle times, and adhering to speed regulations. The job consists of loading and unloading both dry and temperature-controlled goods, except for no-touch freight roles. DTI drivers take pride in reading load paperwork accurately, understanding product descriptions, and identifying opportunities for process improvements by reducing waste in their areas of responsibility.

As a company, Dot Transportation honors the value of its drivers by providing competitive bonuses for successful performance, extensive medical, dental, 401(k), and profit-sharing plans, and opportunities for career advancement. Candidates who hold or are willing to obtain a Class A CDL, along with Haz-Mat and tanker endorsements, are encouraged to apply, with the company offering assistance for training costs. The role requires a safety-first mindset, the ability to pass physical and medical requirements, and fluency in English to effectively communicate and comply with Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.

Working at DTI means joining a culture that promotes safety, equality, and inclusion, adhering strictly to federal and state laws protecting against discrimination. The company encourages applications from individuals who meet the qualifications and are committed to maintaining a secure and efficient transportation environment. Driving for Dot Transportation is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to build a sustainable career while enjoying the freedom of the open road and the respect of a dedicated team.
