Job Description
Suburban Propane Partners, L.P. is a publicly traded master limited partnership listed on the New York Stock Exchange, headquartered in Whippany, New Jersey. Established in 1928, Suburban Propane has grown into a nationwide distributor of propane, renewable propane, renewable natural gas (RNG), fuel oil, and related products and services. The company also markets natural gas and electricity and is involved in producing and investing in low carbon fuel alternatives. Serving approximately 1 million residential, commercial, governmental, industrial, and agricultural customers through around 700 locations across 42 states, Suburban Propane is committed to excellence in customer service and sustainability.
The company’s operations are supported by three core pillars: Suburban Commitment, which represents nearly a century-long dedication to dependability, flexibility, and reliability; SuburbanCares, highlighting their commitment to giving back to the local communities where they operate; and Go Green with Suburban Propane, which emphasizes the promotion of propane and renewable propane as clean, versatile energy sources leading towards a green energy future. Suburban Propane is dedicated to expanding its national footprint and advancing sustainable and clean energy innovations.
The role of a Local Delivery Driver at Suburban Propane is essential to maintaining the company’s high standards of customer service and safety. The driver will be part of a passionate and professional team responsible for delivering fuel locally, ensuring customers’ homes and businesses are supplied efficiently and safely. Drivers will be home every night, emphasizing a work-life balance while playing a crucial role in the company’s operations. The position involves maintaining delivery trucks by reviewing maintenance records, conducting regular vehicle inspections, and reporting any issues to guarantee continued safe vehicle operation.
This role also demands exceptional customer service skills, as drivers are often the face of Suburban Propane in their communities. Drivers handle funds and inventory using user-friendly handheld terminals, maintaining accuracy and accountability. The company provides all necessary tools and training for drivers to perform their duties safely and effectively. A minimum of a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HAZMAT, tanker, and air brake endorsements is required, along with a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate for interstate commerce operations. For those who do not have the required endorsements, Suburban Propane offers time and training to obtain them.
Suburban Propane highly values the wellbeing of its employees, offering competitive pay with incentive potential and a comprehensive benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance after just 30 days of employment, paid time off that increases with tenure, a 401(k) plan with company match and immediate vesting, disability and life insurance, an employee recognition program, tuition assistance, and propane discounts. The company is an Equal Opportunity Employer and embraces diversity and inclusion, considering all qualified applicants fairly. Background checks and drug screens are part of the pre-employment process to ensure safety and compliance.
Joining Suburban Propane means becoming part of a dynamic and supportive community with almost a century of experience in the energy sector, committed to sustainability, safety, and customer satisfaction. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a rewarding career in a well-established company with strong values and a future-focused approach.
