As part of its mission, the organization welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, identities, experiences, and abilities, aiming to build a workforce that reflects the communities it serves.

The Thrift Store Associate role located in Troy, New York, is a full-time, hourly position offering a meaningful opportunity for individuals who want to contribute directly to community impact through hands-on work with donated goods. As a Thrift Store Associate, you will play a vital role in the donation process, handling incoming goods and preparing them for resale to support Goodwill's mission. This fast-paced production-centered role involves sorting, grading, tagging, pricing, and staging merchandise such as textiles, housewares, electronics, shoes, and accessories. The position demands physical stamina, including standing for extended periods and lifting or maneuvering items weighing up to 50 pounds. Attention to quality control, organization skills, and adherence to safety protocols are essential for success. You will also provide excellent customer and donor service, ensuring the donation area remains welcoming and efficient. The position requires flexibility to work weekdays and some weekends, as the store operates from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Sunday. Safety is a priority, and employees receive training and protective equipment to ensure a secure work environment despite the handling of pre-owned merchandise that may contain allergens or dust. This role offers a unique chance to be part of a team dedicated to maximizing productivity and making a positive difference in both the environment and the lives of people in the community. Joining Goodwill as a Thrift Store Associate means contributing your skills, energy, and commitment toward a greater social mission, while gaining valuable retail and customer service experience in an inclusive, supportive setting.
