Job Description

DYNE Hospitality Group is a prominent player in the hospitality industry renowned for its exceptional operation of cafes and restaurants that deliver outstanding experiences to customers. The company prides itself on a strong organizational culture based on four core values: Invest In People, Understand Why, Make Smart Decisions, and Make It Happen. These values are not just slogans but are actively integrated into the company's daily operations, decision-making processes, and employee interactions. This dynamic and values-driven culture sets DYNE Hospitality Group apart, fostering a supportive and innovative workplace where employees are empowered to excel and grow their careers. With a broad portfolio of cafes, the company emphasizes long-term career development, competitive wages, and comprehensive benefits as central to its employee value proposition. DYNE Hospitality Group believes in hiring and promoting individuals who embody its cultural ethos and hold themselves and others accountable to these standards.

The Assistant General Manager role at DYNE Hospitality Group is vital in supporting the operational success and growth of up to 30 to 40 cafes. This position is designed for a proactive leader who can provide critical support to General Managers in various capacities such as overseeing new cafe openings, executing training programs, and stepping in during GM absences or transitions. The role demands versatility, as the Assistant General Manager acts as a tenure GM in cafes without permanent management and ensures the smooth running of operations in line with the company’s standards. The work week entails a demanding schedule of 45+ hours with varied shifts tailored to the business’s needs. Additionally, the position requires a willingness to travel approximately 25 to 30 percent or more to support cafes across different locations. The role is classified as salary exempt under the Department of Labor regulations, and it reports directly to the General Manager.

This position is not just about maintaining operational continuity but is equally focused on talent development and brand consistency. The Assistant General Manager will be involved in training and coaching management and crew members, supporting hiring and staffing efforts (especially in critically understaffed cafes), and ensuring that team member training programs align with the standards set by both DYNE and The Service Companies (TSC). The role also involves facilitating effective communication by participating in regular meetings and calls, including monthly one-on-ones with leadership, weekly GM region calls, bi-weekly manager meetings within cafes, and quarterly GM huddles. Strong communication, management, and supervisory skills are essential for success in this role. A valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and proficiency in computer software like Excel and Word are required to perform the job functions effectively. The Assistant General Manager must also have strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills along with the ability to read and follow instructions meticulously.

The physical demands of the job include frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and stretching, with some lifting up to 50 pounds. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with at least two years of restaurant experience, including progressive supervisory responsibilities, who seek to advance their leadership career within a respected hospitality group dedicated to cultivating employee growth and delivering excellence across its cafe locations.
