NexGen Contracting is a specialized self-perform contracting arm of Gray Construction, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee. The company is known for executing turnkey project scopes across multiple disciplines such as concrete, steel, millwright, and finishes. With decades of experience, NexGen takes pride in offering comprehensive services including supervision, administration, craft labor, materials, tools, documentation, consumables, and safety devices necessary to successfully carry projects from inception to completion. As a preferred subcontractor fully integrated with Gray Construction, NexGen maintains a solid reputation for its dedication to quality and customer satisfaction.
Gray Construction, founded in 1960, is a fully integrated, global service provider with deep roots in engineering, design, construction, smart manufacturing, and equipment manufacturing services. The company serves a broad range of markets including Food & Beverage, Manufacturing, Automotive, Distribution, Mission Critical, and Commercial sectors. Gray is recognized consistently as an industry leader by delivering one-of-a-kind, customized solutions with unmatched precision and partnership to some of the world’s most sophisticated organizations. However, beyond the markets, Gray’s strength lies in the passion, commitment, and spirit of its team.
The role of Traveling Quality Control Technician within NexGen’s Concrete team involves a dynamic and critical responsibility in ensuring quality standards across multiple project sites located in Jackson, MS; Boardman, OR; Louisville, KY; and New Albany, OH. This is a traveling position with up to 100% travel required to various job sites to perform quality control inspections, audits, and compliance checks for concrete construction projects. The successful candidate will be well-versed in verifying approved submittals, auditing contractor quality plans, and ensuring that installation adheres to contract documents and specifications.
This position requires a detail-oriented professional who possesses excellent communication and organizational skills. Responsibilities include conducting daily audits and testing, inspecting materials and products upon arrival, documenting non-conforming work and corrective actions, and coordinating with site managers and quality management teams to maintain high standards. The role also entails participating in project meetings to communicate the status of quality items and promptly reporting any quality issues that require halting work. While Government Certified Quality Technician Certification is preferred, it is not a mandatory requirement.
NexGen seeks an energetic, self-motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about professional development. Being part of this team means contributing to high-achievement objectives in a fast-paced and innovative company culture. The role does not offer visa sponsorship, emphasizing the importance of candidates being authorized to work. Though the position involves physical work demands such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional climbing or crouching, reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities. There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
Overall, the Traveling Quality Control Technician position at NexGen offers a unique career opportunity to join a reputable and growing company that values quality, safety, and teamwork in the construction industry. The role supports a mission to uphold the highest construction quality standards while ensuring seamless coordination and communication across multiple projects and locations. Candidates looking to build a rewarding career in quality control within the concrete construction sector will find NexGen an excellent fit for growth and opportunity.
