Job Description
Reynolds and Reynolds, founded in Dayton, Ohio in 1866, is a leading provider of software, services, and forms tailored specifically for car dealerships. With a rich history spanning over 150 years, Reynolds and Reynolds has grown to become an industry leader, serving over 70 percent of U.S. dealerships through its exclusive Retail Management System. Headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, with significant operations in Houston and College Station, Texas, Celina, Ohio, Tampa, Florida, and international presence in Canada, the U.K., and Europe, the company continuously innovates to help dealerships improve their results and enhance the customer experience. As a pioneer in dealership technology, Reynolds and Reynolds combines deep industry knowledge with cutting-edge software solutions designed to streamline dealership operations, from sales to service and parts management.
The role of Traveling Field IT Technician at Reynolds and Reynolds offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that blends technology expertise with customer service and hands-on technical problem solving. This position requires extensive travel, approximately 50% overnight, to customer sites to support onboarding new clients, performing network documentation, deploying toolsets, and conducting network assessments. Technicians are responsible for installing and maintaining critical hardware such as firewalls, switches, access points, and phone systems, as well as performing maintenance and support on various computer equipment, printers, and specialized KeyTrak devices used by dealerships.
Candidates will attend a comprehensive paid training program located in College Station, Texas, lasting four weeks. This intensive course provides hands-on familiarization with the equipment, software, policies, and procedures used in the field. Technicians will develop a strong foundation in network configurations, firewall setups, and virtualization technologies such as VMware while learning to manage server migrations and local exchange setups. A key part of the role includes maintaining accurate inventory of repair parts and detailed documentation through the company's service tracking system, ensuring all technical work is well recorded and communicated.
This role demands a high level of technical skill combined with excellent interpersonal abilities. Traveling Field IT Technicians must react well under pressure, consistently demonstrate attention to detail, and maintain a strong commitment to producing high-quality, thorough work. The ideal candidate is deadline-driven, capable of multitasking, and innovative in their approach to problem solving, thriving both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Experience with Microsoft 365, GSuite, Active Directory, and Azure AD is essential, along with proficiency in firewall configurations, Cisco networking, VoIP, VLANs, DNS management, and cabling technologies.
Reynolds and Reynolds offers a healthy, smoke-free work environment and promotes an equal opportunity workplace where diversity and inclusion are priorities. Employees benefit from a comprehensive package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; a 401(k) plan with employer matching up to 6%; use of a company vehicle for business purposes; and paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. This role is ideal for motivated IT professionals seeking a challenging position that combines on-the-road travel with advanced technical responsibilities in the automotive dealership technology sector.
