Job Description

Coast Medical Service is a leading nationwide travel nursing and allied healthcare staffing agency committed to delivering an elite traveler experience for both experienced and first-time travel nurses. Recognized for its excellence in the healthcare staffing industry, Coast Medical Service has been honored as one of Blue Pipes' Best Travel Agencies in 2023 and has earned accolades as a Top Rated Healthcare Staffing Firm in 2022 and during the first half of 2023 by Great Recruiters. This recognition underscores Coast Medical Service's dedication to quality, professionalism, and superior service, making it a trusted choice for healthcare professionals seeking travel opportunities across the United States.

As a travel nursing agency, Coast Medical Service specializes in connecting registered nurses with exciting travel assignments that allow them to gain diverse clinical experiences while exploring new locations. Their commitment extends beyond placement, offering personalized support throughout the travel assignment to ensure a positive and rewarding journey for every healthcare professional they work with. Whether the nurse is embarking on their first travel assignment or is a seasoned traveler seeking new opportunities, Coast provides comprehensive assistance including credentialing, housing support, and competitive compensation packages.

The current opportunity is for a travel nurse registered nurse (RN) specializing in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to join a healthcare facility in San Francisco, California. This travel nursing position is a 13-week assignment starting on August 10, 2026, designed for nurses who thrive in the fast-paced, critical care environment of the ICU. The role requires the nurse to work 36 hours per week, scheduled as three 12-hour night shifts per week from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, allowing for substantial continuity of care and the ability to make a significant impact on patient outcomes during these critical hours.

The ICU travel nurse will be responsible for providing expert nursing care to critically ill patients, utilizing advanced clinical skills and knowledge to monitor, assess, and manage complex medical conditions. This position demands a compassionate and detail-oriented professional who can work efficiently in high-pressure environments, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and communicate clearly with patients and their families. The travel designation of this role means the nurse will experience working in a new facility and community, which enhances professional growth and cultural competence within nursing practice.

Overall, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for ICU nurses looking to expand their professional horizons, enjoy competitive pay with potential tax-free stipends, and gain valuable travel experience, all while contributing to high-quality patient care in a vibrant metropolitan setting. Coast Medical Service supports its travel nurses throughout their assignments, ensuring that practitioners can focus on delivering exceptional care while exploring new cities and healthcare environments.
