The travel Medical Technologist role based in Bryan, Texas, is a contract opportunity designed for experienced professionals seeking a 13-week journey with 40 hours per week, working 12-hour day shifts. This position is not a Medical Assistant role; it requires proficiency as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with active certification from recognized entities such as ASCP, AMT, HEW, or AAB. Candidates will need at least eighteen months of relevant experience and may also need to secure a state license. The role demands a solid understanding of scientific laboratory procedures, including the operation of complex laboratory equipment and generating precise reports based on various tests.
In this role, the Medical Technologist plays a pivotal part in analyzing blood and bodily fluid specimens to identify bacteria, viruses, parasites, or chemical imbalances that impact patient health. Utilizing sophisticated tools like cell counters, microscopes, and cultures, the technologist ensures that test results adhere to stringent laboratory protocols for accuracy and reliability. Responsibilities include measuring drug levels for therapeutic effectiveness, evaluating nutritional deficiencies, and interpreting chemical contents related to cholesterol or blood sugar abnormalities.

Job Requirements
- Active certification by ASCP, AMT, HEW or AAB required
- Minimum eighteen months of Medical Laboratory Technologist or Technician experience
- State license may be required
- Basic knowledge of scientific laboratory procedures and equipment operation
- Ability to work 12 hour day shifts
- Commitment to 13 week travel assignment
- Willingness to relocate to Bryan, Texas for duration of assignment
Job Qualifications
- Active certification through ASCP, AMT, HEW or AAB
- Eighteen months of Medical Laboratory Technologist or Technician experience
- Basic grasp of scientific laboratory procedures including use of laboratory equipment and generating reports from laboratory tests
- Ability to follow laboratory protocols for test analysis and reporting
Job Duties
- Examine specimens for bacteria, viruses or parasites
- Measure levels of drugs or other chemicals in the blood to help ensure medications are at their most therapeutic levels
- Look at the chemical content of the blood to determine deficiencies in nutrients or excesses of cholesterol or blood sugars
- Make use of cell counters, cultures, microscopes and other various types of equipment
- Follow the lab's protocol for analyzing, interpreting and delivering test results
