This commitment makes American Traveler a trusted partner for those embarking on or expanding their travel nursing journeys.
This travel nursing position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery at a prominent teaching hospital facility located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The role involves working in a high-risk obstetrics unit, managing maternal and neonatal care for approximately 200 to 300 births each month. The position is contract-based, beginning April 20, 2026, and lasting for a 13-week duration. The employment type is travel, offering 36 hours per week with a day shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Weekend shifts and on-call coverage are required as needed, along with floating responsibilities to the Mother/Baby unit.
The ideal candidate must hold an active Louisiana or Compact RN license and have a minimum of two years of Labor and Delivery experience, with prior work in a teaching hospital setting. Essential certifications include BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and proficiency with Epic EMR is mandatory. Applicants will need to provide a supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months, a copy of their driver's license, and explain any employment gaps longer than 30 days for consideration.
American Traveler ensures that scrubs are provided at the facility and has specific travel pay qualifications, including residing more than 75 miles from the hospital and restrictions on recent employment with LCMC facilities. With a limited return-to-office policy during the contract term and a supportive environment, this role offers a balance of professional challenge and personal growth for travel nurses eager to enhance their Labor and Delivery expertise in a dynamic, high-acuity healthcare setting.
