The role of Travel Histology Technologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT) at Fusion Medical Staffing-Laboratory is an exciting travel opportunity based in Detroit, Michigan. This position involves a 14-week assignment with 40 hours per week on night shifts of 8 hours each. Job Requirements
- One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT)
- Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with various personnel
- Ability to perform fine motor skills and handle department equipment
- Capability to work under pressure and maintain concentration
- Visual acuity and effective communication skills
Job Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT)
- Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
- National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications preferred
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Job Duties
- Receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination
- Accurately differentiate between normal, reactive, infectious, and malignant cellular changes
- Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation using specialized histology techniques
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and automated staining machines
- Verify specimen accuracy and ensure proper labeling and documentation
- Follow quality control protocols to maintain consistency and reliability in slide preparation
- Assist pathologists and laboratory staff by preparing slides for special stains and immunohistochemistry procedures
- Maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
