The role of Travel Histology Technologist (HTL) or Histology Technician (HT) - Generalist, offered by Fusion Medical Staffing, is a 13-week travel assignment based in a healthcare facility located in Wyoming, Michigan. This position is specialized within the Allied Health Professional discipline, focusing on the preparation of tissue samples for microscopic examination which aids pathologists in disease diagnosis. Job Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist or Histology Technician
  • Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficiency in PC skills
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position and move about while handling equipment
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 50-100 pounds
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel and demonstrate professionalism
  • Ability to perform fine motor skills related to the job
  • Ability to cope with frequent public contact and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Visual acuity and effective communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • One year of recent experience as a Histotechnologist or Histology Technician
  • Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
  • National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications preferred
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position

Job Duties

  • Receive, process, and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic examination
  • Accurately differentiate between normal, reactive, infectious, and malignant cellular changes
  • Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation using specialized histology techniques
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and automated staining machines
  • Verify specimen accuracy and ensure proper labeling and documentation
  • Follow quality control protocols to maintain consistency and reliability in slide preparation
  • Assist pathologists and laboratory staff by preparing slides for special stains and immunohistochemistry procedures
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
