Job Description

American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) is a globally recognized leader in providing comprehensive travel management services tailored to corporate clients, especially those operating within federal defense and government sectors. Established as a trusted partner in the travel industry, Amex GBT harnesses the collective power of innovation, technology, and expert service to deliver seamless travel experiences for business clients. The company prides itself on fostering an inclusive and collaborative corporate culture where employees find their voice and are inspired by travel as a force for good. With a deep commitment to customer success and employee well-being, Amex GBT continuously strives to improve the travel experience from beginning to end.

This exciting opportunity is with the U.S. Military and Government team based in Washington, DC, offering an onsite role as a Travel Consultant. The position comes with a competitive salary range of $58,000 to $68,000 annually, reflecting the value and expertise needed to support federal clients in managing their business travel. As a Travel Consultant at Amex GBT, you will provide expert travel management and dedicated customer service to defense and government travelers throughout all phases of their business trips. Your work will be pivotal in ensuring that clients navigate their travel smoothly and efficiently, whether coordinating complex international itineraries or booking simpler domestic routes.

The role involves leveraging both your travel industry knowledge and technological acumen, particularly with Global Distribution Systems such as Sabre, to craft optimal travel arrangements including air travel, rail, road transport, and accommodations. You will engage in proactive communication—anticipating traveler needs and offering additional valued services—ensuring compliance with established travel policies and regulatory frameworks. Collaboration with your team to share insights, provide mentorship, and promote continual service excellence is essential for success in this role.

Amex GBT values candidates with a passion for delivering excellent client service, attention to detail, and integrity in managing sensitive traveler information. Military experience and certifications are respected and may substitute for some requirements. Given the federal government focus, this role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass stringent background investigations. By joining Amex GBT, you become part of a global family dedicated to innovation, inclusion, and professional development. The company offers flexible benefits starting on day one, ample travel perks, and access to extensive learning resources. If you aspire to make a meaningful impact in a specialized sector of the travel industry and thrive in a culture of collaboration and respect, this Travel Consultant role at Amex GBT presents an ideal career opportunity.
