Job Description

American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT) is a world-renowned travel management company dedicated to helping businesses and organizations optimize their travel programs while creating extraordinary travel experiences. As a member of the American Express family, Amex GBT combines extensive industry expertise, innovative technology, and a commitment to responsible travel, empowering clients across the globe to navigate complex travel needs smoothly and efficiently. With a culture emphasizing inclusivity, collaboration, and professional growth, Amex GBT strives to create an environment where employees feel valued and supported in their career journeys. The company’s vision reflects its belief in travel as a force for good, inspiring colleagues to make a positive impact in the travel industry and beyond.

In this role as a Travel Consultant within the U.S. Military and Government team based in Atlanta, Georgia, you will be part of a specialized group providing seamless and high-quality travel management services to federal government clients. This position is pivotal in ensuring defense and government travelers receive exceptional support before, during, and after their business trips. As a Travel Consultant, your main responsibility will be to craft comprehensive domestic and international travel arrangements, including air, hotel, rail, and ground transportation bookings, tailored to meet the unique standards and preferences of each client. You will act as a trusted advisor, offering expert guidance to optimize the travel experience and ensure satisfaction.

The role demands strong attention to detail and the ability to handle a wide range of travel bookings—from simple itinerary requests to complex, multi-destination arrangements involving ticket exchanges and specialized fares. You must be adept at solving problems proactively and navigating any changes or issues that arise before or during travel efficiently, all while maintaining outstanding customer service. Your experience with industry-leading Global Distribution Systems (GDS), specifically Sabre, will be valuable in delivering accurate and timely travel solutions.

Amex GBT’s commitment to your development means you will benefit from comprehensive onboarding and training programs led by seasoned colleagues and have access to continuous learning resources through the company’s social intranet. This support ensures you stay updated with the latest industry trends, tools, and client-specific travel policies. The compensation for this role ranges from $46,000 to $52,000 annually, reflecting the company’s investment in attracting skilled professionals who are passionate about service excellence.

A vital aspect of this position is the requirement for U.S. citizenship due to federal government contract obligations. The company places high importance on compliance with government eligibility standards, including thorough background checks involving criminal history and credit reviews. Therefore, candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to meet these prerequisites as a condition of employment.

Amex GBT also prioritizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering an environment where all voices are heard and respected. The #TeamGBT culture promotes flexible benefits tailored to individual needs, travel perks, personal development opportunities, and employee resource groups focused on inclusion initiatives. Embracing a positive, can-do attitude and strong teamwork skills will help you thrive in this dynamic setting.

Whether you bring extensive travel consultant experience, military experience, or transferable skills from other customer service industries, Amex GBT encourages you to apply. This position offers a fulfilling career path with a global travel leader where your efforts directly contribute to making travel easier and more enjoyable for government clients whose missions impact national security and public service.
