The Transportation Supervisor role is based onsite in Des Plaines, near O’Hare International Airport, reflecting a unique leadership opportunity within SkyChefs’ Chicago transportation operation. The position focuses on leading a team of over 20 transportation professionals who ensure that airline flights receive the correct products on time, every time. This 24/7 operation underscores the importance of safety, teamwork, and complete reliability in daily airline support activities. The supervisor is responsible for managing transportation operations in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment where attention to detail and strict adherence to compliance standards are essential. This role demands coordination of drivers, routes, and schedules to help maintain on-time flight departures while meeting all safety, regulatory, and operational standards. Highly visible and hands-on, the Transportation Supervisor regularly interacts with teams on the loading dock, tackling real-time operational challenges head-on. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge required
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation or logistics supervision
  • Problem solving and leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results and achieve productivity goals
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, GMP, FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required along with the ability to multi-task
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed and that all delivery times are being met timely
  • Accountable for coordinating drivers, routes, and schedules to support on-time departures while maintaining full compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards
  • Conduct daily work group meetings
  • Schedule and control staff to meet labor productivity and overtime targets
  • Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards (FDA, USDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HACCP, etc.)
  • Document and follow up on all department processes in order to implement improvements
  • Ensure on-time and accurate production and/or catering of all flights
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Other duties as deemed necessary
