The Operations Delivery Supervisor role at Sysco is a vital position that ensures the efficient and safe delivery of products to customers. This role involves direct supervision of delivery associates, overseeing daily delivery operations, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies. The Operations Delivery Supervisor is responsible for managing labor costs, planning work schedules, maintaining delivery equipment, and collaborating with other departments to optimize delivery services. This position demands a proactive and safety-conscious leader who can maintain high standards of customer service and operational efficiency while fostering positive team dynamics and associate engagement.

As an Operations Delivery Supervisor, you will play a critical role in upholding Sysco's commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction. You will ensure that delivery associates follow established procedures, adhere to planned routes, and comply with local, state, and federal regulations such as DOT and OSHA. Your leadership will be essential in managing resources effectively, suggesting process improvements, and handling employee relations including training, discipline, and performance reviews. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training
  • Completed Sysco approved defensive driving program
  • Ability to engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Ability to manage pressure and stress in a deadline-oriented atmosphere
  • Must have excellent computer skills
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English
  • Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide with whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Ability to follow established procedures and comply with government regulations
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License preferred
  • HazMat certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • 2 or 4-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or similar major preferred
  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training
  • Completed Sysco approved defensive driving program
  • HazMat certification preferred
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License meeting company standards preferred
  • Strong leadership and team engagement skills
  • Ability to work well with peers and associates proactively
  • Problem-solving skills with limited standardization
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations

Job Duties

  • Supervises the daily work and safety of delivery associates including adherence to standard operating procedures and planned routes
  • Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies such as DOT and OSHA including maintaining accurate electronic logs
  • Manages labor hours and consumable supplies within budget
  • Prepares work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed
  • Oversees proper selection and utilization of company assets supporting the delivery department
  • Organizes required repairs with proper departments as necessary
  • Reviews delivery functions and productivity reporting
  • Suggests efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures and assists with implementing delivery changes
  • Interprets, trains and enforces company policies and procedures including food safety and record keeping
  • Communicates with sales management and marketing associates to resolve customer or delivery issues
  • Visits customer locations to address issues and assess delivery difficulty
  • Maintains associate relations through regular meetings
  • Keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies
  • Monitors associate morale and submits and responds to ideas to improve engagement
  • Coordinates with the safety department on training, observations, accident investigations and inspections
  • Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and manages staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and terminations
  • Performs duties of associates as needed and qualified
