Job Description

United Salad Co. is a prominent family-owned distributor specializing in the supply of fresh produce, grocery, and foodservice products across the Pacific Northwest region. For many years, the company has played a vital role in connecting local farmers and growers from across the globe with a wide range of national and independent grocers, restaurants, schools, and other institutions. As one of the area's largest distributors, United Salad Co. prides itself on its commitment to quality, reliability, and exceptional customer service. The company’s strategic location in Sumner, Washington, enables efficient distribution covering a broad geographic area, ensuring fresh produce reaches customers promptly and in peak condition.

The current opportunity is for a Transportation Supervisor to join the United Salad Co. team on a full-time basis. This role operates on a shift schedule from 3:30am to 12:00pm, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The position offers a competitive salary range between $68,000 and $75,000 annually, with the exact amount dependent on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The Transportation Supervisor will play a critical role in supervising and managing the transportation team to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of products to customers. The focus will be on operational efficiency, compliance with all transportation and safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of driver performance and customer satisfaction.

The supervisor will be responsible for coordinating and assigning delivery routes, optimizing schedules to meet customer needs while addressing any challenges that may arise, such as vehicle breakdowns or delays. This leadership position requires an individual who is proactive and detail-oriented, capable of effectively managing a team of drivers and support staff, providing coaching and feedback when necessary to improve performance and service delivery. Familiarity with transportation management software (TMS), GPS navigation, and route optimization tools is highly advantageous for streamlining operations.

United Salad Co. offers a supportive work environment with valuable benefits including medical and dental insurance through Kaiser, PTO accrual starting from the first day of employment, and a 401(k) retirement plan to support long-term financial security. The company values continuous improvement and encourages its transportation supervisors to seek innovative solutions for process improvements and cost optimizations within the department.

In this role, the Transportation Supervisor will collaborate closely with other departments such as warehouse and customer service to ensure delivery processes are aligned and efficient. The position requires a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, and candidates must be willing to work flexible hours that include early mornings and weekends as per operational needs. Additionally, the role is contingent upon successful background checks, motor vehicle record verification, and passing a drug screening including THC. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced transportation professionals who are passionate about leadership, logistics, and maintaining high standards in fresh product delivery to make a meaningful impact within a reputable and growing company.
