The Transportation Supervisor role at Core-Mark is a vital position based in San Diego, CA, at 5345 Overland Ave, reporting into the Corona OpCo. This full-time position follows a Monday through Friday schedule beginning at 8 AM until the shift is completed, with some flexibility depending on business needs. Compensation ranges from $85,000 to $90,000 annually, with bonus potential tied to key performance indicators, reflecting the company's commitment to rewarding performance.

As the Transportation Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day transportation operations, ensuring the timely delivery of goods that support America’s food distribution system. This role demands leadership and hands-on involvement with a team of drivers, focusing on safety compliance, fleet performance, and operational efficiency. You will assist in scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management, while also ensuring adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other company policies. The role requires proficiency with transportation management software and route optimization tools, enabling you to optimize routes and maintain detailed records, including trip logs, driver qualification files, and vehicle inspection reports. You will play an instrumental role in minimizing operating expenses and maximizing efficiency, collaborating closely with Operations Managers.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 2 years experience in transportation or related field
  • Knowledge of DOT and safety regulations
  • Experience with computerized fleet management systems
  • Minimum 1 year experience supervising a team of 10 or more drivers
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency with transportation management software
  • Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • At least 2 years transportation or related experience with knowledge of DOT and safety regulations
  • Experience operating computerized fleet management systems
  • 1+ years experience leading and supervising a team of 10+ drivers
  • Strong knowledge of transportation logistics, regulations, and best practices
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and route optimization tools
  • Detail-oriented with analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks

Job Duties

  • Supervises associates including staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution
  • Assists in scheduling as well as ensuring deliveries and pickups are made in a timely manner
  • Rides with drivers for training and/or evaluation purposes
  • Assists Transportation/Operations Manager with day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions including calculating driver payroll and reviewing trip logs
  • Monitors DOT compliance and ensures drivers follow safety regulations
  • Coordinates tracking of all relevant driver information such as license status and accidents
  • Ensures accurate completion of delivery and driver-related paperwork including invoices and DOT logs
  • Reviews vehicle maintenance through detailed post-trip inspection reports
  • Collaborates with Transportation/Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and optimize delivery routing
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
