Within ASML US, the P&D (Planning and Delivery) Freight Operations department plays a crucial role in managing the global logistics transportation network in alignment with customer requirements. The department ensures a flawless distribution network, which is vital for maintaining a smooth and efficient supply chain. The team is responsible for fast and flexible transportation networks, customs activities, differentiated warehousing solutions, and delivering complex value-added services. The role of Transportation Specialist at ASML US is an operational role focused on supporting capital equipment shipments both globally and domestically. This role requires overseeing a range of activities including freight bill auditing, shipment tracking, resolving operational challenges, and collaborating with various internal and external partners to ensure seamless delivery processes. The Transportation Specialist works closely with management to secure freight spend in line with freight forwarder agreements and company strategy while supporting effective decision-making and execution. This position is embedded in a team of professionals passionate about optimizing supply chain infrastructure, improving process efficiency, enhancing 3PL (third-party logistics) performance, and leveraging data analytics to support business needs.

Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating shipments of capital equipment such as machine systems, return materials, optics, and more. The specialist ensures on-time delivery by tracking shipments, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining clear communication with warehouses, customers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders. They manage shipping documentation, billing accuracy, and follow-up on administrative discrepancies to uphold compliance and operational integrity. Cross-functional collaboration is vital, requiring frequent interaction with global teams in the Netherlands and Taiwan to align operational activities and facilitate dock planning.

In addition, the Transportation Specialist plays an essential role in freight bill auditing and cost control activities. This includes validating freight bills against contract rate cards, addressing discrepancies, and implementing cost-effective solutions without compromising customer service. The role demands continuous improvement initiatives, challenging existing processes, and driving smart, tangible changes to optimize cost, lead time, and quality in shipping operations. The specialist is also expected to lead department-wide improvements and contribute to cross-sector projects, fostering innovation and excellence in logistics operations.

Candidates for this role should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience, with 5-7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or operational management. Experience working in complex environments with multiple stakeholders, freight forwarders, and cross-functional teams is essential. Familiarity with international freight operations, customs regulations, and transportation management systems such as SAP ECC is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate to advanced level is expected.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years of work experience in logistics, supply chain management or operational management
  • Experience in a challenging environment coordinating with different stakeholders, activities and layers
  • Experience working with freight forwarders
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • International freight experience preferred
  • Knowledge of customs import and export regulations is a plus
  • Knowledge of logistics management systems (TMS), their set-up and application, SAP ECC preferred
  • Intermediate to advance competencies in MS Excel and PowerPoint

Job Duties

  • Planning, arranging, scheduling, and coordinating the movement of capital equipment shipments including machine systems and return materials
  • Tracking and troubleshooting ongoing shipments with warehouses, forwarders, customers, and customs brokers to ensure on-time delivery
  • Creating and managing compliant shipping documentation and billing to drive follow-up and closure on discrepancies
  • Collaborating cross-functionally and providing timely communication on shipment status
  • Coordinating with international teams and dock planners for operational alignment and delivery scheduling
  • Preparing and leading operational reviews with stakeholders to drive action item closure
  • Ensuring freight forwarding partners adhere to EHS safety expectations
  • Comparing rate cards to freight bills to address discrepancies and validate costs
  • Optimizing billing structures and freight spend while maintaining customer service
  • Driving continuous improvements in capital equipment processes and logistics operations
  • Identifying opportunities to improve cost, lead time, and quality
  • Leading departmental and cross-sector logistics improvement initiatives
  • Supporting Freight Operations team members
