Job Description

Wayfair Inc. is one of the world's largest online destinations for home goods, specializing in furniture and home decoration. Founded with a mission to reinvent the way people shop for their homes, Wayfair combines cutting-edge technology with a customer-centric approach to create an unparalleled shopping experience. With global headquarters in Boston and multiple warehouses and offices worldwide, Wayfair continues to expand its logistics network, striving to enhance delivery times, service offerings, and order accuracy. The company prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive culture that celebrates innovation, collaboration, and respect for every individual's unique perspective. Wayfair is also committed to providing equal opportunities for all applicants, including those with disabilities, ensuring an accessible and supportive environment for professional growth.

The Transportation/Routing Specialist role at Wayfair is a pivotal position within the Distribution team, focused on maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting warehouse operations behind the scenes. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth flow of products from receipt at the terminal to dispatch for delivery, thereby directly impacting customer satisfaction and repeat business. Specialists in this position use Wayfair's inventory systems and tools to verify that purchase orders are accurately processed, identify and resolve exceptions such as damage or mis-shipments, and manage reverse logistics including handling missed or refused deliveries. The role requires strong coordination and communication with customer service and other internal teams to resolve issues and enhance operational efficiency.

Additionally, the Transportation/Routing Specialist is responsible for setting up schedules for outgoing freight related to returns, liquidation, donation, and disposal, as well as maintaining relationships with reverse logistics carriers. This involves preparing and correcting paperwork for delivery teams and compiling detailed end-of-shift reports distributed to terminal staff and partner teams. The position demands a proactive mindset that encourages continuous process improvement and a commitment to upholding high standards of customer service.

This position operates on a Sunday-Wednesday schedule from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a base pay of $24 per hour plus a $2 per hour shift premium for any work performed between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Wayfair offers a robust benefits package starting from day one, including referral bonuses, overtime pay, 401(k) plans, company discounts, and growth opportunities through promotions and conversions. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in logistics or transportation who thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and can comfortably manage physical tasks such as lifting over 75 pounds. Candidates with a proactive approach and a desire to contribute to a dynamic, innovative company will find this role rewarding and aligned with their career goals.
