The role of Transportation Manager in the Airline Catering division is pivotal to maintaining the seamless delivery of meals to aircraft. Located on-site in Boston, this position commands a salary range of $106,000 to $125,000 annually, reflecting the key responsibilities and leadership role within the company. The Transportation Manager oversees daily ground transportation and dispatch operations, ensuring meals are delivered promptly and in compliance with strict safety and regulatory standards.

This individual manages and trains drivers, dispatchers, and support staff, focusing on optimizing on-time performance and safety. They ensure adherence to airport security protocols and compliance with FAA, DOT, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and HACCP regulations, guaranteeing the highest standards in operational integrity and food safety. The role involves analyzing logistics data to implement continuous improvements, reduce costs, and enhance service reliability.

The Transportation Manager collaborates closely with airline partners, airport tower control, and internal teams to synchronize catering operations with flight schedules. Fleet maintenance, scheduling, and route optimization are managed using modern logistics software to maximize efficiency. This leadership position also represents the transportation department in leadership briefings, audits, and customer meetings, requiring strong communication and managerial skills.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant aviation and/or supply chain management experience
  • Strong understanding of safety and regulatory compliance including OSHA, FDA, USDA, EPA
  • Knowledge of food safety standards including GMP and HACCP
  • Proficiency in analytics and logistics software
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage staff scheduling and productivity
  • Familiarity with manpower planning tools (e.g., VPS)
  • Commitment to operational excellence and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to meet customer expectations and manage cost variances
  • Experience with Groundstar is a plus

Job Duties

  • Proactively identify, escalate, and resolve operational issues in a timely manner
