The role of Manager, Transportation at US Foods is pivotal in shaping the culture and operational effectiveness of the Transportation department. The Manager will oversee a team of drivers and transportation associates, ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely outbound shipment of products to customers and other distribution centers. A critical aspect of this role is fostering a safety-first environment by championing safety procedures, training, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

In addition to maintaining operational standards, the Manager will be responsible for personnel management, including coaching, training, and performance development. They will engage in direct supervision, motivate the team, and build high-performing groups by participating in the hiring and disciplinary processes. The role requires the ability to analyze operational data, troubleshoot delivery issues, and implement effective, legal solutions to maintain customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

This position also involves regular interaction with various internal stakeholders such as transportation leaders, warehouse teams, sales departments, and external customers, ensuring smooth coordination and communication across the supply chain. The Manager will spend part of their time on the road with drivers, experiencing the operational environment firsthand to better lead and support the team. The role requires a balance between fieldwork and office-based tasks involving planning and data analysis.

US Foods expects candidates to have a minimum of three years' experience in transportation, delivery, or warehouse distribution, along with at least one year of supervisory experience. Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and inventory control is essential, as is proficiency with basic computer skills including Microsoft Office. The physical demands of the job require the ability to perform tasks such as walking, standing, driving vehicles, lifting moderate weights, and occasional climbing or bending.

This role offers a competitive salary range between $75,000 and $115,000, depending on experience and location, with additional incentive compensation potential.
