Job Description
Amazon is a global leader in e-commerce and technology, known for its innovative approach to online retail, logistics, and cloud computing. With a workforce that spans the globe, Amazon continuously invests in developing cutting-edge technology and infrastructure to deliver exceptional customer experiences. The company operates various specialized facilities, including fulfillment centers, sortation centers, air hubs, and delivery stations, each playing a crucial role in its sophisticated supply chain and delivery network. Amazon's commitment to sustainability, diversity, and inclusion further reflects its standing as a forward-thinking and socially responsible company.
The Transportation Associate role at Amazon offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the company's dynamic transportation operations team. As a Transportation Associate, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the efficient movement of trailers within the trailer yard, ensuring seamless coordination of yard activities such as checking in trailers, managing traffic flow, and maintaining internal communications with various operational teams. This position requires operating multiple types of vehicles, including hostlers and day cabs, to support Amazon's extensive transportation network.
Safety is a core priority in this role. Transportation Associates must adhere to company regulations and enforce safety policies to protect all personnel who operate vehicles within the yard, including vendors and senior team members. The role involves a variety of tasks such as performing yard audits, completing driver training programs including hostler and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training, and conducting vehicle inspection reports to promptly report maintenance or delivery issues. Candidates will gain hands-on experience with Department of Transportation regulations and compliance expected in this environment.
Working as a Transportation Associate also presents an excellent opportunity to work in an outdoor setting while driving and maneuvering different commercial motor vehicles in the yard and potentially over public roads if CDL certification is obtained. Amazon provides comprehensive training to support career growth potential within its transportation operations. Moreover, Amazon offers the chance to earn a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), which is fully funded by the company when business needs require such certification. This role is designed to offer meaningful long-term career development and the chance to work closely with diverse teams across multiple Amazon site types including NACF (North American Customer Fulfillment), NASC (North American Sortation Center), Air, AMZL (Amazon Logistics), and AMXL (Amazon Larger items).
Employment as a Transportation Associate is full-time with a competitive hourly pay rate ranging from $26.00 to $27.00 per hour in Bondurant, Iowa. The position involves working 40 hours per week with potential overtime, including flexible shifts that may encompass evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include lifting up to 49 pounds and the ability to stand, walk, and maneuver for shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
Overall, this role is ideal for individuals seeking to develop and grow within Amazon’s fast-paced transportation sector, providing hands-on involvement in logistics operations while enjoying robust benefits, training, and career advancement opportunities. Amazon fosters an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and provides accommodations throughout the hiring process to support all candidates.
