Amazon, a global leader in e-commerce and cloud computing, prides itself on innovative logistics solutions designed to ensure timely delivery while maintaining high safety and quality standards. As a company, Amazon offers competitive pay, comprehensive training programs, and opportunities for career advancement while fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
The Transportation Associate position at Amazon is designed for individuals who want to be integral players in the operational backbone of Amazon’s transportation network. In this role, associates are tasked with performing trailer moves within the trailer yard, coordinating yard operations which include trailer check-ins, managing traffic flow, and maintaining effective communications with internal operations teams. The role requires associates to conduct yard audits and complete necessary driver training programs such as Hostler and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) school. Employees in this capacity will be qualified and capable of operating various vehicle types based on the shifting demands of the business, including hostlers and day cabs.
This role emphasizes safety as a priority to ensure a secure working environment for all personnel and vendors. Transportation Associates are responsible for adhering to and enforcing company safety policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Their duties include vehicle inspections, incident reporting, managing schedules and breaks in compliance with labor laws, and supporting overall site operations to sustain workflow efficiency. Associates will also have the opportunity to work outdoors, gaining practical exposure to commercial vehicle operation and yard management.
Benefits for this role include competitive hourly wages ranging from $26.00 to $27.00 in Bondurant, Iowa, plus eligibility for overtime pay, performance bonuses, and shift differentials based on working hours. Amazon supports its employees with a range of benefits such as mental health assistance, an employee assistance program (EAP), medical advice lines, and 401(k) matching contributions. Moreover, there are long-term growth and training opportunities within the transportation sector of the company. In some cases, Amazon may sponsor a CDL for eligible associates, opening pathways for career advancement into regulated over-the-road driving roles. Overall, the Transportation Associate role offers a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding career environment with stability and growth potential within one of the world’s leading companies.
