Job Requirements

  • Two years experience with safe operation of motorized vehicles
  • ability to obtain commercial driver’s license
  • must be at least 21 years old
  • proven self-motivation and public service orientation
  • ability to operate large passenger buses independently
  • adeptness in public relations and managing stressful situations
  • ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • preferred First Aid and CPR certification
  • accurate record-keeping skills
  • sensitivity to elderly and disabled passengers
  • flexibility in work hours
  • pass background check and drug test

Job Qualifications

  • Two years experience operating passenger cars, trucks or motorized vehicles in various weather conditions
  • ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license
  • safe driving record
  • at least 21 years of age
  • ability to demonstrate self-motivation and service commitment
  • ability to operate large passenger buses independently
  • ability to handle public interactions courteously and remain calm under pressure
  • strong attention to detail
  • capacity to understand oral and written instructions
  • possession or ability to obtain valid First Aid and CPR certification preferred
  • accuracy in maintaining records
  • sensitivity to diverse individuals including elderly and disabled
  • flexibility to work varying hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • ability to pass background check and drug test

Job Duties

  • Operate passenger bus on designated routes and schedules
  • safely pick up and discharge passengers
  • collect fares and verify passes for validity
  • operate wheelchair lifts and restraints for passenger safety and comfort
  • regulate heating, cooling, lighting and ventilation systems
  • perform vehicle inspections before, during and after operation
  • note and report damage or defects
  • promote positive passenger relations by greeting passengers courteously
  • provide information regarding routes, fares, schedules and transfer points
  • secure and turn in lost articles
  • complete trip and other reports
  • respond politely to passenger input and refer concerns to supervisors
  • suggest safety and route improvements
  • report accidents, hazards, and necessary corrective actions
  • participate in cleaning buses and facilities
  • assist in office tasks as time allows
  • operate two-way radio professionally
  • perform hourly walk-throughs and report changing conditions
  • attend required training sessions
  • maintain regular and dependable attendance
  • interact professionally with staff and the public
  • perform winter maintenance activities such as snowplowing and clearing walkways
  • operate vehicles and equipment safely
  • perform additional assigned tasks
