Job Description

The Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority (MTTA) is a pivotal public transportation organization serving the residents and visitors of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and its surrounding areas. Dedicated to providing reliable, efficient, and accessible transit services, MTTA plays a key role in enhancing the mobility of the community by connecting people to work, education, healthcare, and recreational destinations through a comprehensive network of fixed and flexible bus routes. This transit authority is committed to delivering excellent customer service and fostering an environment that supports sustainable transportation options for all demographics within the Tulsa metropolitan region.

As a Bus Pass Sales and Information Representative at MTTA, individuals will contribute directly to the day-to-day operations of transit services by assisting passengers with purchasing bus passes, educating riders on transit usage, and maintaining the orderliness and operational functionality of the transfer station. This role demands a deep knowledge of Tulsa’s geographic areas, including city streets and surrounding regions, to offer accurate guidance and route information. Besides facilitating ticket and pass sales, the representative ensures effective handling of fare transactions, maintaining proper documentation, and performing daily reconciliations of sales and inventory. The position supports the MTTA’s mission by providing clear, timely, and friendly communication to riders, addressing their questions related to fixed-route schedules and flexible service options, and adapting transit solutions to meet passenger needs when certain services reach capacity.

This position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to establish rapport and professional confidence with passengers, and a dedication to maintaining high standards of conduct through professional appearance and attitude. The role involves extensive interaction with the public, requiring consistent punctuality and reliability, as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving and teamwork within the transit authority’s environment. Candidates with bi-lingual abilities have an advantage, given the diverse population served. The role also includes physical demands such as prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and occasional lifting or pushing of materials up to 50 pounds. Evening and weekend availability is necessary to meet the operational needs of transit services.

Working for MTTA offers a meaningful opportunity to impact the community by enhancing access to public transportation and supporting the city’s sustainability goals. A successful Bus Pass Sales and Information Representative is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and energetic about contributing to a public service institution that values excellence, safety, and inclusivity. MTTA encourages candidates with strong communication skills and a commitment to public service to apply and become part of a team dedicated to improving the transit experience for Tulsa residents and visitors.
