Job Description
Kiewit Corporation is a renowned construction, mining, and engineering company that has built its legacy on delivering exceptional projects with integrity, innovation, and quality. Established over a century ago, Kiewit is headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, and operates throughout the United States and Canada, providing extensive services in infrastructure, transportation, power, and oil and gas sectors. The company prides itself on fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace that values employee development and growth opportunities. Kiewit's Human Resources (HR) Operations department functions as a critical partner, offering world-class talent management and HR services that support the company's continual growth and success. Their HR teams have evolved from decentralized units into a unified, shared service system focused on excellence and collaboration.
Within this progressive HR setup, the Talent Development team specifically delivers specialized programs via Kiewit University, enhancing employee skills and leadership capabilities through corporate training and development events. They support a variety of initiatives designed to upskill staff, bolster company culture, and maintain compliance with professional standards. Kiewit University serves as the central hub for educational and training activities, hosting various events and programs aimed at strengthening the knowledge base of Kiewit employees.
We are currently seeking a mid-level Training Event Specialist to join this vibrant Talent Development unit at Kiewit’s Omaha Headquarters. This is a full-time, on-site position with no remote or hybrid options. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, detailed, and resourceful professional who excels in managing complex logistics and vendor relationships. Their role will primarily focus on coordinating, planning, and supporting the execution of corporate training programs and related events. Responsibility areas include vendor selection and coordination, detailed event planning, cost budgeting and management, and hands-on support during actual training sessions and corporate events.
The Training Event Specialist will partner closely with Talent Development leadership and school advisors to ensure seamless event execution, including creating agendas, coordinating venues, transportation, meals, and room setups. A vital aspect of the role involves managing the Cvent event application tool to provide an efficient registration and communication platform for attendees. Additionally, this role includes meticulous documentation, record keeping, and constant communication with vendors such as hotels, caterers, and facilities staff. An emphasis on budget stewardship and cost control is imperative, requiring the specialist to handle expense tracking, invoice reconciliation, and precise budget forecasting.
Kiewit offers an exciting work environment where the successful candidate will engage with a dynamic team focused on delivering successful and impactful development programs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting, enjoys juggling multiple responsibilities, and is passionate about creating smooth, efficient event execution that enhances the learner and attendee experience. While the role is based in Omaha, some occasional domestic travel for regional events or consultants may be required. Overall, this position provides the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to the continuous improvement and effectiveness of Kiewit's corporate talent development initiatives.
