Job Requirements
- bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- experience in tourism, hospitality, economic development, education, or communications preferred
- ability to travel regularly including overnight stays
- possession of a valid driver's license or reliable transportation
- reliable attendance
- proficiency in interacting with community leaders and public officials
- strong organizational and project management skills
- willingness to represent the commission at events across the state
Job Qualifications
- bachelor's degree in any related discipline
- experience in tourism, hospitality, economic development, education, or communications preferred
- experience delivering training sessions and workshops
- ability to develop partnerships and provide support for trainers
- skilled in public relations and project management
- strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills
- ability to interact effectively with diverse community and government leaders
- ability to persuade and influence others
- knowledge of Nebraska's governmental structure and tourism industry
Job Duties
- serve as a networking steward to increase tourism outreach efforts
- build awareness of tourism in Nebraska
- expand industry visibility through partnerships with counties, municipalities, chambers of commerce, visitor bureaus, and civic leaders
- interact with commission board members to create alliances and partnerships
- plan and oversee the annual Nebraska Tourism Conference including selecting speakers, recruiting sponsors, managing bids, and maintaining conference budgets
- represent the commission at community educational events
- coordinate educational webinars for industry partners
- plan annual Travel and Tourism week events
- develop new programs in response to industry interests
- compile and analyze tourism data and prepare reports
- oversee agency inventory and wholesale operations
- monitor tourism-related legislation and regulations
- perform other duties as assigned within the job scope
