This role offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in event planning, coordination, and administrative functions related to tourism and hospitality, all while supporting various departmental events and activities.

This part-time position involves assisting with a series of dynamic tasks crucial for the smooth operation of events and recruitment activities. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing materials, coordinating room setups, managing guest communications, and contributing creative ideas to enhance event experiences. They will also participate in evaluating event success to help the department continually improve its services. Essential skills needed include strong attention to detail, excellent organization, customer service, and communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

This role not only provides practical exposure to event logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, and timeline coordination but also offers experience in marketing and promotion through creating and distributing event materials and social media content. The student will manage event registrations, track attendance, respond to inquiries, and offer on-site support during events. Additionally, they will perform various administrative duties, such as data entry, schedule management, file maintenance, and general office organization. Collaboration and effective communication with clients, vendors, and attendees are also crucial aspects of the position, ensuring that events meet expectations and run smoothly.

The workload requires flexibility, as working hours may vary depending on event schedules and departmental needs. The position fosters teamwork and encourages a positive, can-do attitude, vital for working effectively with colleagues and contributing to a productive work environment. The role offers valuable experience that can enhance a student’s resume, providing insight into the tourism and hospitality industry while developing transferable skills applicable across many professional domains.

This part-time opportunity is ideal for students eager to build their skills in event management, marketing, customer service, and administration while contributing meaningfully to the School of Business and Industry's initiatives.
