Job Description

The City of Yukon is a vibrant municipality dedicated to fostering economic development, community engagement, and enhancing the overall quality of life for its residents and visitors. Known for its rich heritage and active community, Yukon strategically promotes itself as a premier destination with attractions that appeal to tourists and locals alike. The city takes pride in its unique Route 66 heritage, diverse local businesses, and various cultural, recreational, and hospitality offerings that create a welcoming environment for visitors. With a commitment to continuous improvement, Yukon leverages tourism and destination marketing as essential drivers for local economic growth and community vitality.

The Tourism & Destination Marketing Coordinator plays a vital role within the City's Economic Development Department by supporting the promotion of Yukon as a desirable tourism destination. This position is designed to assist in the execution and coordination of tourism marketing campaigns, digital communications, visitor engagement initiatives, and community partnership efforts. Reporting to the Economic Development Director, the Tourism & Destination Marketing Coordinator manages social media accounts, updates and maintains tourism-related web content, and crafts compelling content including graphics, photographs, videos, and written materials.

In this role, the coordinator collaborates with hotels, attractions, businesses, community organizations, and regional partners to promote tourism products and experiences that highlight Yukon’s unique appeal. Special attention is given to Route 66 initiatives and promotions, which are a signature part of the City’s tourism identity. Beyond marketing, the coordinator supports events, sponsorships, and community activities that foster stronger visitor connections and community economic benefits.

Additional responsibilities include tracking and analyzing tourism marketing analytics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns, responding to visitor inquiries to enhance the visitor experience, and providing administrative assistance for tourism committees and projects. The role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency in digital marketing tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and Microsoft Office, as well as a strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have experience or education in marketing, tourism, hospitality, communications, or related fields, alongside a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. This position primarily operates within an office environment but includes some travel within the community and participation in evening and weekend events as necessary to support tourism and destination marketing functions effectively. The City of Yukon offers a collaborative work atmosphere where the Tourism & Destination Marketing Coordinator can contribute meaningfully to the city’s economic future and visitor satisfaction. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated professional looking to grow their career in tourism marketing within a supportive government setting while making a tangible impact on a community’s economic development and tourism visibility.
