Job Description
El Super is a well-established supermarket chain known for its rich history rooted in family values and a genuine passion for food. With over 25 years of service, El Super has become a supermarket of choice for many customers, particularly within diverse communities seeking authentic Latin American grocery products. The company is part of the larger Chedraui USA group, which emphasizes providing exceptional shopping experiences through fresh selections and a strong commitment to quality and value. El Super stands out by offering a wide variety of grocery items at the lowest possible prices, including authentic in-house service departments and top-quality perishables. This commitment has earned El Super a loyal customer base and a respected place within the community where the stores operate.
Located in Los Angeles, California, the #4 Cesar Chavez El Super store invites passionate individuals to join their Store Operations Team as a Tortilleria Clerk (Nixtamal). This position offers a starting wage of $18.47 per hour and an opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic team dedicated to excellent customer service and community engagement. The Tortilleria Clerk role is integral to the store's food service department, focusing on preparing, handling, and serving a variety of tortillas and masa, essential staples in Latin American cuisine. The clerk will assist customers with friendliness and professionalism, ensuring that their shopping experience is pleasant and meets the highest standards.
This position is ideal for candidates who love food and enjoy working closely with the community. Besides customer service duties, the role requires physical work including lifting, standing, walking, and kneeling, reflecting the busy environment of a grocery store. The Tortilleria Clerk will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked tortilla display, including rotating products to ensure freshness. Those accepted for this position will receive full training and will be supported by a team committed to their growth and success. The company culture at El Super fosters a sense of family, respect, and mutual support, offering employees opportunities for continuing education and retirement benefits such as a 401(k) plan.
As a Tortilleria Clerk at El Super, employees contribute directly to the store’s mission of providing fresh, authentic, and affordable food options while creating a welcoming environment for customers. The role demands excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and coworkers, as well as basic literacy for reading product labels and instructions. For those interested in retail management, this position can be a stepping stone to further career opportunities within the company. El Super values diversity and equal employment opportunities, ensuring a workplace free of discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, or genetics. Overall, this job offers a meaningful chance to be part of a community-focused company with a legacy of quality food service and customer satisfaction.
