The role of Tortilleria Clerk (Nixtamal) at the El Super #37 location in San Bernardino, California, is integral to the store's fresh food offerings and customer service excellence. This position starts at an hourly rate of $16.90 and involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the preparation and sale of tortillas and related products. As a Tortilleria Clerk, you will engage directly with customers, ensuring they receive friendly, courteous, and efficient service while maintaining the tortilla department’s cleanliness, stock, and display rotation. This job blends hands-on food preparation—making different types of tortillas and masa—with customer interaction in a fast-paced grocery environment. Physical activity such as lifting, standing, walking, and kneeling is routine, reflecting the dynamic nature of the role. Job Requirements
- Food handler card or equivalent certification required
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and kneel for extended periods
- Effective communication skills
- Basic literacy to read and write simple correspondence and instructions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in food service or retail preferred
- Reading and comprehension of product labels and pricing
- Basic written communication skills
- Ability to present information effectively to customers and staff
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Basic computer skills such as PC and Outlook preferred
- Retail management certificate is a plus
Job Duties
