Located at 4421 University Ave., San Diego, California, the El Super store #51 is currently seeking a Tortilleria Clerk to join their Store Operations Team. This position starts at a competitive rate of $17.75 per hour and is ideal for individuals passionate about food, community, and customer service. The role involves providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service to customers, assisting with the preparation and handling of tortillas and masa, cleaning and maintaining tortilla displays, as well as filling and rotating stock to ensure freshness. As a Tortilleria Clerk, you will be integral to maintaining the department’s high standards while contributing to the welcoming environment that El Super is known for.
This is a physically engaging role typical of a fast-paced grocery store environment, requiring regular lifting, standing, walking, and kneeling, along with strong visual and auditory abilities. The position demands keen attention to detail and adherence to food safety standards, including the necessary Food Handler Card or equivalent certification to handle and serve food items safely. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Handler Card or equivalent certification
- Ability to read and understand product labels and pricing codes
- Ability to lift and carry weights up to 60 pounds
- Ability to operate basic computer software
- Availability to work in a fast-paced grocery store environment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work well with customers and team members
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in retail or food service is a plus
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and product information
- Strong communication skills
- Basic math and writing skills

Job Duties
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
