The role of Tortilleria Clerk at El Super (Store #18 Highland Park, located at 5610 York Blvd., Los Angeles, CA) is an integral part of the store operations team. This position involves delivering friendly, courteous, and attentive customer service while managing the specialty tortilla department. The Tortilleria Clerk is responsible for preparing various types of tortillas and masa, maintaining the tortilla display by cleaning, filling, and rotating the products regularly to ensure freshness and customer satisfaction. Working in a fast-paced grocery store environment, the role requires physical stamina involving lifting, standing, walking, and kneeling, which are essential to the effective execution of daily tasks. Job Requirements

  • Possess a Food Handler Card or equivalent certification
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, product pricing codes, shelf tags, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
  • Ability to stand, walk, and kneel during work
  • Basic PC and Outlook skills (preferred)
  • Retail Management Certificate (preferred)

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in food preparation or retail preferred
  • Basic ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, product labels, and pricing codes
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers and coworkers
