The role of Tortilleria Clerk - #10 Tucson is a key position within the Store Operations Team at the El Super location situated at 3372 S. 6th Ave., Tucson, Arizona. This full-time position provides a starting rate of $16.50 per hour and demands a combination of excellent customer service, food handling, and physical aptitude. The Tortilleria Clerk is directly responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction by providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service while maintaining the tortilla displays filled, clean, and properly rotated. Additionally, the clerk assists in the preparation of various types of tortillas and masa for the department, supporting the overall operational flow.
This role is integral to the daily operations of the store's tortilla department and involves a fast-paced working environment typical of a grocery store. Physical requirements include frequent lifting, standing, walking, and kneeling, with the ability to lift weights ranging from 25 to occasionally up to 60 pounds. The position requires individuals who are capable of reading and understanding product labels, pricing codes, and internal communications. Strong communication skills are essential for effective one-on-one customer interactions and collaboration with other staff members. The Tortilleria Clerk must also have the ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions, ensuring compliance with safety and food handling standards.

Job Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions product labels product pricing codes shelf tags short correspondence and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 45 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds
- Food Handler Card or its equivalent certification
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced grocery store environment
- Ability to stand and kneel for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous customer service experience preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend product labels and instructions
- Effective verbal communication skills
- Basic PC and Outlook skills are a plus
- Retail Management Certificate is a plus
- Food Handler Card or equivalent certification required
