The role available is for a Steward at Legends Global’s Toledo Complex, which includes both the Huntington Center and the Glass City Center. Reporting to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, the Steward plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. This position involves dishwashing duties, handling utensils and kitchen equipment, and supporting kitchen operations during high-volume events. The Steward ensures that all kitchenware is sanitized and stored properly, underpinning the overall safety and hygiene standards of the culinary team. This is a hands-on role that requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the kitchen team.

The Steward will be responsible for sorting and rinsing dirty dishes and utensils, placing items in dish machines, washing pots and pans by hand, managing waste disposal, and ensuring floors are clean and safe. They will also assist with moving supplies and equipment and support cooks during busy periods. To excel in this role, candidates must be adaptable, self-motivated, and able to handle a physically demanding workload, including lifting heavy items and standing for extended periods. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and some prior experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 months of related experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen environment
  • ability to lift 75 pounds
  • ability to stand and work on feet for 8-10 hours a day
  • ability to perform strenuous physical duties including lifting, carrying, moving, and climbing
  • ability to stretch and reach
  • experience working in fast-paced team environments
  • ability to adapt to changing situations quickly

Job Duties

  • Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glassware, tableware, and other cooking utensils
  • place items in proper dish machine racks
  • ensure efficient dish machine operation
  • sort and stack clean items from the dish machine
  • deliver clean items to storage areas
  • wash pots, pans, and trays by hand
  • fill and empty soaking tubs with cleaning and sanitizing solutions
  • segregate and properly dispose of trash, garbage, and recycling
  • clean and sanitize waste cans
  • sweep and mop kitchen floors regularly
  • clean up spills and trash to maintain safe and dry floors
  • notify Kitchen Supervisor if dish machine or rinse cycle falls below safety standards
  • transfer supplies and equipment between storage and kitchen work areas
  • assist cooks with food assembly during high production events
