Job Description

Oral Roberts University (ORU) is a distinguished non-profit institution committed to transforming lives through education, faith, and community engagement. Located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ORU is recognized for its dedication to academic excellence combined with spiritual growth, offering a wide array of undergraduate and graduate programs. The university fosters a supportive environment where faculty and staff are passionate about their roles and deeply invested in the success and well-being of students. ORU's culture is built on strong values, mutual respect, and a drive to positively impact society by empowering students to achieve their personal and professional goals. The institution continuously strives to improve and adapt to meet the needs of its diverse student body while maintaining a welcoming and inclusive campus atmosphere.

Currently, ORU is accepting applications for the part-time role of Assistant Building Manager / Event Coordinator at the Hammer Center and other campus facilities. This position plays a pivotal role in overseeing and maintaining the university’s buildings and event spaces, ensuring a safe, secure, and well-coordinated environment for all patrons and staff. The Assistant Building Manager / Event Coordinator acts as the primary liaison for site-managed events, responsible for comprehensive facility supervision during duty hours and ensuring events are executed according to established policies and standards.

The core responsibilities of this position include facility security and safety oversight, conducting periodic rounds to verify authorization of facility access, performing detailed inspections to ensure event service needs are met, and maintaining communication with the Director and ORU Security when issues arise. The role requires assisting patrons with equipment and room access, aligning facility resources with class schedules and event requisitions, and strictly enforcing building policies to uphold operational integrity. The Assistant Building Manager also supervises student workers, ensuring they understand and comply with all guidelines and procedures.

Ideal candidates for this role will demonstrate strong communication skills—both in-person and written—competency in handling stressful and dynamic situations with sound judgment, and experience or familiarity with facility management, recreational programming, or supervisory functions. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for data entry and record keeping. Physical demands of the job include sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional outdoor work under varying weather conditions.

As a valued member of the ORU team, the Assistant Building Manager / Event Coordinator holds a critical responsibility in maintaining a secure and efficient campus environment that supports the educational mission of the university. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, though a bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required. Additionally, certification in Adult CPR, Safety, and First Aid is required to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
