The University of Kansas Social Club located in Lawrence, Kansas, operates under the umbrella of Oak View Group. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in a similar supervisory role in upscale banquet, hotel, or convention center settings
- State issued health certificate and immunizations
- ServSafe certification
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and long hours
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to train and mentor staff
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and safety standards
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills

Job Duties
- Supervises all line setup, prep, and breakdown activities
- Responsible for in-service delegation of tasks to line personnel
- Supervises all buffet, beverage, break, and carving table set-up and breakdown
- Responsible for set-up of all equipment necessary for food service areas, including chafing dishes, sternos, china, serving ware, silverware, bowls and platters, heating lamps, and cutting boards
- Assists Executive Chef with kitchen record-keeping and administrative duties, including food inventories and ordering
- Organizes employee work schedules to ensure appropriate kitchen coverage
- Measures, mixes, and cooks ingredients according to recipes
- Maintains a clean kitchen environment, ensuring no food debris on any surface
- Provides ongoing assistance, training, and mentoring to kitchen staff
- Promotes a positive and cooperative workplace by working side by side with staff
- Ensures quality, consistency, and concept maintenance alongside Executive Chef
- Monitors food production for recipe adherence, portion control, and timing
- Monitors food appearance, temperature, sanitary, and quality standards
- Oversees event materials and kitchen surroundings
- Guides, directs, and motivates kitchen staff
- Ensures compliance with all food safety standards
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates
- Makes decisions, solves problems, and prioritizes work
- Evaluates information against standards
- Documents personnel discipline and collaborates with human resources
