The part-time Server role at the Palm Springs Convention Center plays a vital role in ensuring that guests receive excellent food and beverage service during events. The ideal candidate will provide professional, friendly, and efficient service aligned with the event specifications and service standards established by Oak View Group. This position is critical to creating memorable experiences as the server interacts directly with guests, attends to their needs, and coordinates with kitchen and event staff to maintain an impeccable level of service. The server's responsibilities include setting up spaces for service, delivering food and beverage promptly and accurately, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the event.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • minimum of 6 months experience in a fast-paced food service environment preferred
  • must obtain and maintain Food Handlers Card and Alcohol Awareness Certification
  • ability to work flexible hours during peak event periods
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months working in a fast-paced, high-volume food service environment preferred
  • must have a high school diploma, G.E.D., or related food service job experience
  • must acquire and maintain a Food Handlers Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings
  • ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests to foster a positive and cooperative work environment

Job Duties

  • Maintains knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered
  • provides quick, attentive, friendly, and professional service to all guests and communicates clearly with customers
  • ensures that food items are served at the proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen, as ordered by the customer
  • ensures neat presentation of all ordered items with no spill-over
  • pre-bus tables and fully bus tables when necessary during peak periods
  • maintains availability to work during many peak periods
  • stocks beverage stations when necessary including ice, juices, glassware, sugar packets, etc
  • maintains high responsiveness to customer desires and requests
  • maintains a professional and clean appearance
  • communicates with wait staff, bus persons, bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff to improve communication and coordination
  • builds and maintains knowledge regarding bar offerings to accurately answer patron questions
