The role of Restaurant Chef at Oak View Group’s Port Wentworth Ice Cove location is a full-time, regular position with an annual salary of $60,000. This position is pivotal to the success of the culinary team and the overall hospitality operations within the venue. The Restaurant Chef will be responsible for managing the public food culinary team, overseeing all aspects of food preparation, production, and kitchen management during events and day-to-day operations. Core responsibilities include effective scheduling, food cost control, menu development, food safety compliance, staff training, and supervision. The Restaurant Chef is tasked with maintaining high standards of food quality, consistency, kitchen safety, and sanitation while delivering exceptional service aligned with OVG’s brand and operational standards.
This is a dynamic role requiring a candidate who is highly organized, resourceful, and able to lead a diverse team in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. The chef must ensure budgetary goals are met by implementing stringent control measures on food inventory, purchase procedures, and labor costs. The role involves direct coordination with kitchen equipment maintenance and repair and occasional support with catered services and food service areas. Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and display professionalism in attendance and interpersonal engagement. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years experience in kitchen management
- Proficiency with food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible schedule including nights and weekends

- Valid food handler's certification

- Minimum of 3-5 years kitchen management experience in full-service restaurant or events venue
- Technical proficiency demonstrating verifiable knowledge of food preparation methods

Job Duties
- Ensures budgeted food percentages are achieved through effective control measures including portion controls kitchen timings food inventory rotation receiving and food storage procedures inventory controls effective purchasing procedures kitchen security procedures and waste control
- Controls labor costs through effective scheduling of kitchen staff cross-training and development of employees
- Ensures purchasing and preparation of all food products meet OVG's standards of quality consistency and style including menu development and monitoring food production
- Coordinates storage maintenance and repair of all kitchen equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Assists with delivery and set-up of catered services and food service areas as needed
- Provides leadership training and development to kitchen staff including orientation new employee training and morale building
- Ensures compliance with health sanitation safety and employment regulations and assists with kitchen record-keeping and administrative requirements including employee scheduling and food inventories
