The Performance Dining Line Cook position at Colorado State University’s campus in Fort Collins, Colorado, falls under Oak View Group’s OVG Food Services & Hospitality division. This part-time role is integral to the success of the dining experience within one of the university's premier performance dining venues. The Line Cook's primary responsibility includes preparing and delivering high-quality, fresh food products efficiently to guests, often at live events and dining services within the venue. This role demands a commitment to culinary excellence, speed, and consistency, ensuring that all dishes meet company recipes and portioning standards.

The Line Cook will play a critical role in maintaining the standards of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen equipment maintenance. The position necessitates the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, event-driven environment while maintaining direct contact with guests and team members. Responsibilities include preparing hot and cold foods, slicing meats, managing buffet lines, and garnishing dishes, all under the guidance of the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor. A keen eye for detail in food preparation, portion control, and presentation is essential. Additionally, excellent attendance and availability for scheduled events are crucial to meet operational needs.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including events
  • Ability to maintain sanitation and safety standards
  • Valid food handling certification if required

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
  • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife
  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, coworkers, management, and guests
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented, event-driven environment
  • Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
  • Participate as a team player with responsibilities related to preparation, service, and delivery of food products
  • Report any maintenance issues for kitchen equipment
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
  • Portion, arrange, and garnish food plates for delivery to guests
  • Consult with Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate food consumption
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and reliability
