The Line Cook position at Blue Arena is a part-time role offering an hourly wage of $20.00 to $24.00. This role is vital in ensuring that high-quality, fresh food items are prepared and served efficiently to guests throughout the venue. The Line Cook will work both behind the scenes and in visible food preparation areas such as buffet lines, where they may interact directly with patrons while slicing meats or preparing custom dishes. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining excellent attendance and being flexible enough to work during scheduled events based on business needs.

The responsibilities of the Line Cook include adhering to company recipes and portioning standards to prepare both hot and cold dishes. This role demands teamwork, with cooks collaborating closely with kitchen supervisors, sous chefs, and executive chefs to ensure menus are planned and food consumption estimates are accurate. Maintenance reporting for kitchen equipment, food safety compliance, and sanitation are also crucial aspects of this position. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and event days
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment
  • Possess valid food handler certification if required by location
  • Willingness to adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
  • Able to operate standard kitchen equipment, including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • ServSafe preferred

Job Duties

  • Responsible for providing high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • Prepares hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
  • Participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service, and delivery of product
  • Responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
  • Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Responsible for observing and testing foods to ensure proper cooking
  • Responsible for portioning, arranging, and garnishing food plates for delivery to guests
  • Responsible for consulting with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
  • Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
