Job Description
Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader in the live entertainment industry, specializing in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services. Since its founding in 2015, OVG has established itself as a powerhouse in venue development, management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. The company manages and owns a collection of seven world-class venues and boasts an extensive client portfolio that includes iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. Oak View Group is dedicated to innovation, excellence, and delivering unparalleled experiences in live entertainment, fostering community engagement and economic growth in the regions where it operates.
At the heart of OVG's operations in Corpus Christi, Texas, lies the Hilliard Center – the city’s premier state-of-the-art convention center. The Hilliard Center offers a stunning 138,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space with breathtaking views of Corpus Christi Bay. This expansive facility can be divided into ten separate ballrooms and includes amenities such as four loading bays, nineteen television monitors for customizable event presentations, a 76,500 square foot Exhibit Hall tailored for expos and trade shows, and an 18,500 square foot premier ballroom with scenic bay views. Additionally, the connected 10,000-seat indoor arena and a 2,600-seat Selena Auditorium enhance the venue's ability to accommodate a diverse range of events including concerts, sporting events, family shows, conventions, and more.
The General Manager at the Hilliard Center plays a pivotal role by overseeing the complete operation and management of the facility. This full-time leadership position reports directly to the District General Manager of OVG and offers an annual salary range of $160,000 to $180,000, with eligibility for bonuses. The role is essential to maximizing the utilization and profitability of the Hilliard Center through strategic promotion, contractual negotiations, budgeting, staffing, event coordination, financial oversight, and facility maintenance. Being the key representative of OVG on-site, the General Manager fosters strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders including clients, artists, promoters, tenants, government agencies, and local community organizations.
Day-to-day responsibilities include directing the management contract compliance, coordinating with marketing and booking teams, negotiating leases and event contracts, and overseeing event operations, security, hospitality, box office, and maintenance services. The General Manager also ensures operational excellence through staff recruitment, training, and supervision, financial planning, and implementing policies and procedures aligned with corporate goals. By collaborating with local convention and visitors bureaus and leveraging extensive industry knowledge, the General Manager drives continuous growth and community engagement. The role demands someone with visionary leadership, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adeptness at problem-solving under pressure, and a steadfast commitment to hospitality and customer service excellence.
Candidates should expect to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in alignment with the event schedule. The position requires in-depth knowledge of convention and arena facility management, labor relations, contract negotiations, budgeting, sales, marketing, event management, and adherence to safety and legal regulations. Working at the Hilliard Center also means contributing to a vibrant local culture and providing top-tier experiences for meeting planners, event organizers, artists, and attendees. Full-time employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement savings with matching contributions, and generous paid time off covering vacation, sick days, and holidays.
OVG values diversity and inclusivity, recognizing their critical role in driving innovation and reinforcing the company’s commitment to creating welcoming environments that reflect the communities they serve. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Oak View Group is devoted to fair employment practices without discrimination based on any protected characteristics under federal, state, or local laws. Joining Oak View Group as a General Manager at the Hilliard Center means becoming part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team dedicated to excellence, community involvement, and memorable live entertainment experiences.
