The Food & Beverage Supervisor position at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, offers an opportunity to join this dynamic organization in a part-time capacity. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a restaurant or catering environment
  • Valid food handling certificate or alcohol service permit if required by law
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage cash transactions accurately
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Job Qualifications

  • At least 2-3 years' experience working in a supervisory capacity in a fast-paced restaurant or catering environment or applicable education
  • Ability to supervise the work of others
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Possession of a valid food handling certificate or alcohol service permit if required by state or federal regulations
  • Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
  • Ability to calculate basic math functions related to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation, and product inventory

Job Duties

  • Oversee meal service to guests or guide guests through the buffet line as needed
  • Supervise beverage service, including alcoholic beverages, and verify guest identification to ensure compliance with minimum age requirements
  • Assist with recording guest orders and entering them into the kitchen through the POS system
  • Monitor guest tables to respond to additional requests and determine when meals are completed
  • Calculate meal totals, present checks to guests, process payments, and provide change when necessary
  • Ensure tableware and linens are replaced and maintained as needed throughout service
  • Recommend menu items, describe ingredients, and explain preparation methods to enhance the guest dining experience
  • Supervise the setup of banquet functions including linens, dishware, glassware, and silverware
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and availability to work scheduled events
  • Assure that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to the start of the event
  • Recognize guests that are visibly intoxicated and take action to cut off alcohol to such individuals
  • Enforce all Ovations policies and procedures
  • Assist management team with projects including training, inventory, and special events
  • Perform all other duties assigned by managers and supervisors
