The position is critical for maintaining OVG’s high standards of service, customer experience, and operational excellence for live events.The Event Manager will oversee all facets of event coordination from the initial planning and advance stages through completion. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising event and security personnel, ensuring a smooth operational workflow. The manager will serve as a liaison among various stakeholders—event staff, security, public safety officials, lessees, and patrons—to guarantee events proceed seamlessly and safely. This includes managing building security measures, coordinating communications between staff and security teams, handling emergency planning, and managing vendor relations such as hospitality and food services.Additionally, this role demands a proactive approach to customer satisfaction, ensuring every client and attendee experiences excellence. The Event Manager is also tasked with administrative duties such as preparing financial estimates for events, settling post-event finances, managing payroll for event staff, and maintaining necessary equipment. Flexibility in work hours is vital since events may require availability during nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays.Due to the multi-dimensional responsibilities and high profile of the venues managed, the Event Manager position is well suited to candidates with substantial experience in event management within stadiums, arenas, convention centers, or similar public assembly venues. Job Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree in facility management, hospitality management, business or related field
  • 3-5+ years of experience in event management in stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet
  • knowledge of event operations, crowd control, customer service, supervision, facility use contracts, fire and public safety regulations, and A/V equipment
  • ability to identify user needs
  • experience with budget preparation
  • ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of increasingly responsible event management experience in stadium, arena, convention center or public assembly facility
  • bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in facility management, hospitality management, business, or related field
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • proficient in Microsoft Office applications and internet use
  • knowledge of operational characteristics of events
  • ability to identify needs of facility users
  • knowledge of crowd management and control techniques
  • knowledge of customer service practices
  • knowledge of principles of supervision, scheduling, and training employees
  • familiarity with facility use contracts
  • knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
  • knowledge of A/V equipment and electronic systems in public assembly facilities
  • experience with budget preparation and control
  • familiarity with entertainment, convention, and public assembly terminology
  • experience with AutoCAD preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Advance, plan, service, and supervise all events
  • plan, direct and evaluate the work of subordinates
  • provide leadership and guidance for event personnel
  • analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with lessees, clients, co-workers, part-time staff, contractors, patrons, public and municipal officials
  • work a flexible schedule including long nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • complete all duties with a customer service focus through teamwork and dedication
  • assist in preparing building for upcoming events and shows
  • assist with completion of financial estimates and settlements
  • advise lessees on contractor services
  • recruit, train, and supervise event and security staff
  • create work schedules, delegate assignments, and review performance
  • function as liaison between facility users and staff
  • coordinate communication between building staff and show staff during load-in and load-out
  • investigate and resolve event-related complaints
  • maintain equipment for event and security staff
  • make hospitality arrangements
  • communicate with municipal officials including police, fire and medical services
  • review emergency planning procedures
  • create and distribute detailed data sheets prior to every event
  • prepare and approve bi-weekly payroll for event staff
  • serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
  • other duties as assigned
