Job Description

Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, known for its expansive platform that encompasses venue development, management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. Established in 2015, OVG boasts ownership and management of seven world-class venues and extends its expertise to a diverse client portfolio, including iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. The company is committed to delivering exceptional experiences for both attendees and performers, with a focus on innovation, inclusivity, and operational excellence.

This role is situated within the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, a premier venue in Greensboro, North Carolina, that hosts a wide array of events ranging from concerts and sporting events to conventions and trade shows. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex, under the stewardship of Oak View Group, is a vibrant hub of entertainment and community activity, recognized for its state-of-the-art facilities and professional management. The Event Manager position is a full-time role offering a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $70,000 annually.

The primary focus of the Event Manager is to support the planning and execution of a variety of events at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex, as well as at the Steven Tanger Center. This position requires a versatile individual capable of managing the complexities of diverse event types including in-house productions and amphitheater events. The Event Manager plays a crucial role in preparing detailed event outlines and scaled drawings to ensure precise coordination of event areas and efficient deployment of equipment and personnel. Acting as the lead on-site contact with event promoters, the Event Manager oversees all phases of event delivery from initial planning and move-in to the live event and final move-out.

Responsibilities extend to supervising facility operations during events, which includes managing both facility employees and outside contractors. The role demands a high degree of adaptability to respond effectively to dynamic scenarios such as security considerations, fluctuations in attendance, weather-related challenges, and logistical changes. Financial stewardship is a significant aspect of the position; the Event Manager holds budgetary responsibility and must make informed, swift decisions to maintain operational and financial integrity throughout the event lifecycle.

With a commitment to excellence, the Event Manager develops comprehensive operational and financial plans, creating and distributing the Published Event Document to ensure all parties, including facility personnel, fulfill contractual obligations. Coordination with in-house and third-party vendors such as security and catering is essential to maximize patron satisfaction and event success. The Event Manager also serves as a liaison, assisting tenants with supportive services and resolving facility or technical issues to uphold high standards of service.

This role is ideal for a candidate with a bachelor's degree, 3-5 years of relevant event management experience, and a deep understanding of the functioning of sports and entertainment venues. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required. The Event Manager must be flexible in working days, nights, weekends, and holidays to accommodate event schedules.

Oak View Group values diversity and inclusivity, believing that varied perspectives drive innovation and excellence. The company fosters a workplace culture that celebrates diversity and offers equal employment opportunities regardless of protected class status. Working at OVG means being part of a team united to make a difference in the live entertainment industry, with a strong commitment to amplifying voices from diverse backgrounds and creating inclusive environments for all employees and guests.
