Job Description

Oak View Group (OVG) is the global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, known for its comprehensive platform that spans venue development, venue management, hospitality, and sponsorship sales. Founded in 2015, OVG operates a collection of seven world-class owned venues and collaborates with some of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. The Rhode Island Convention Center and Amica Mutual Pavilion are part of this impressive portfolio, serving as premier locations for a diverse array of events from corporate conventions to entertainment and sporting events.

The Event Intern position, based at the Rhode Island Convention Center, offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in the event management industry. This part-time internship is structured to provide deep exposure to the day-to-day operations of the guest services department, focusing specifically on event planning and staffing needs. The intern will work closely with Event Managers, learning how to lead and supervise part-time event staff, interpret event diagrams and instructions, and understand the operational standards and setup requirements essential to successful event execution.

This internship is designed for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students who are eager to fulfill credit requirements or obtain paid internship experience. The role pays an hourly rate of $20 and is scheduled to last from May 4th, 2026 through July 31st, 2026, with applications accepted until June 10th, 2026. The position demands a commitment of at least 20 hours per week, with availability required during normal business hours as well as nights, weekends, and holidays to align with the event schedule at Addition Financial Arena.

Through this internship, participants will gain comprehensive knowledge about the full event lifecycle, from initial planning stages through execution and post-event wrap-up. They will develop operational skills, including the ability to translate event resumes and floor plans into real-time setups and coordinate cross-departmentally with operations, security, catering, and other teams. The intern will sharpen problem-solving skills crucial for managing live event challenges and will experience a wide range of event types such as corporate, entertainment, and sports events.

Oak View Group fosters a culture that values diversity and inclusivity, believing these principles drive innovation, enhance service, and elevate excellence. The company is committed to creating environments that reflect and celebrate diverse communities and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer embracing all backgrounds and perspectives. This internship offers not only professional growth but also the chance to be part of an industry-leading company dedicated to positively impacting the live entertainment landscape.
